The new Tiguan - International Media Drive, Nice 2024

More efficient than ever. The European market launch of the new Tiguan is now underway. Volkswagen has completely redeveloped the third generation of the bestseller – with sales of more than 7.6 million units so far – and improved it in all areas. Thanks to significant advances in aerodynamics (drag coefficient of 0.28 instead of 0.33) and state-of-the-art drive systems, the new Tiguan is one of the most efficient SUVs in the mid-sized class. Four of the eight engine versions are new hybrid drives. The spectrum ranges from two inexpensive and economical 48-volt mild hybrids (eTSI) through to two plug-in hybrid drive systems of a new evolutionary stage (eHybrid). Offering electric ranges of around 100 km, these plug-in hybrid drives make the new Tiguan an electric car for everyday life. And the vehicle is impressive on long journeys, too: the combination of an electric motor and a new 1.5-litre downsized turbocharged petrol engine ensures low fuel consumption and provides a combined range of more than 900 km. Always on board as standard in all Tiguan models: an automatic direct shift gearbox (DSG).
