Karmann Ghia Typ 14 Cabriolet (1957–1974)

The convertible receives the same redesign as the Coupé, including modified air intakes at the front, larger wheel arches, and higher headlights.

The more powerful version of the 1.2-litre boxer engine with 34 PS and the fully synchronised transmission are installed.

The 1.3-litre engine with 40 PS replaces the 1.2-litre boxer engine. At the same time, the reinforced front axle of the Beetle 1300 is introduced.

As in the Coupé, the high-torque 1.5-litre boxer engine with 44 PS significantly increases driving pleasure.

From now on, the semi-automatic transmission with three gears is available, as in the Beetle, along with the double-joint rear axle. Also new: the dual-circuit brake system with disk brakes on the front axle.

The Cabriolet gets a new front axle and a side fuel filler flap.

The rear window is now made of glass instead of scratch-prone plastic. There are also new bumpers.

The twin-chamber 1.6-litre engine with 50 PS is now installed, an exceptionally powerful engine with increased displacement and driving pleasure. Added to this are enlarged rear lights, a new padded dashboard, and a safety steering wheel.

New bumpers with rubber strips necessitate modifications to the fenders. From now on, Type 4 instruments are used. A diagnostic connector is installed in the engine compartment.

There is now a parking lock for the automatic transmission and wider tyres (6.00-15L 4PR). The rear axle ratio is modified.

Production of the Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Type 14 Cabriolet comes to an end in Osnabrück.
