Volkswagen Autoeuropa is one of the largest foreign industrial investments in Portugal. In 2025, production volume reached 240,400 units, the second-best year ever, with around 1.000 cars rolling off the assembly line every day. The most important target countries were Germany, the United Kingdom and Italy.

Volkswagen Autoeuropa accounts for 1.6% of the national GDP and 4.5% of the national export of goods (2024 data).

Currently, the plant has 462 suppliers; 17 suppliers deliver just-in-time and 77 trucks with production components reach the plant every day.
