Volkswagen Autoeuropa is one of the largest foreign industrial investments in Portugal. In 2024, the production volume reached 236,100 units, the second-best year ever, with around 955 cars rolling off the assembly line each day. The main destination countries are Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom.

Volkswagen Autoeuropa represented 1.6% of the national GDP and 4.5% in national export of goods impact. Currently the plant has 594 parts’ suppliers; 21 suppliers deliver Just-In-Time and 77 trucks with production components reach the plant every day.
