At a Glance: ID. CROSS Concept

With the ID. CROSS Concept, presented at IAA MOBILITY 2025, Volkswagen showcases a near-production study of a compact electric SUV set to be launched in summer 2026. Built on the further developed MEB+ platform, the model combines efficient electric mobility with everyday practicality, a spacious interior, and Volkswagen’s new “Pure Positive” design language, giving the vehicle a friendly, modern, and urban character.

The ID. CROSS Concept is powered by a 155 kW front-mounted electric motor and offers a WLTP range of around 420 kilometers. This makes it equally well suited for daily city driving and longer weekend trips. Despite its compact length of 4.16 meters, the SUV impresses with a 450-liter luggage compartment and an additional 25-liter frunk, further enhancing everyday usability.

The upgraded MEB+ modular platform also enables a significantly expanded range of driver assistance systems. These include intelligent lane guidance and parking functions, enhanced sensor technology, and improved connectivity, all contributing to greater safety and comfort in everyday use.

Despite its compact exterior dimensions, it offers generous storage space for everyday use and leisure activities.

With 155 kW of power and front-wheel drive, the ID. CROSS delivers a strong, quiet, and efficient driving experience—ideal for both daily use and long-distance journeys.

5. How fast does the ID. CROSS charge?
The MEB+ platform is designed for fast DC charging, allowing the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in under 23 minutes.

6. What driver assistance systems are available?
Thanks to the MEB+ modular platform, the ID. CROSS features the latest driver assistance systems such as Travel Assist, Park Assist Plus, and over-the-air updates, delivering maximum safety and comfort in everyday driving.

9. Can the ID. CROSS tow a trailer?
Yes, the ID. CROSS is suitable for trailer use. The tow hitch supports a maximum vertical load of 75 kg, allowing for the transport of two e-bikes. The maximum towing capacity is up to 1,200 kg (braked, on an 8% incline).

10. How does the ID. CROSS differ from the ID. Polo?
The ID. CROSS is a compact SUV with a higher seating position and more cargo space, while the ID. Polo is designed as a classic small car.
