The Volkswagen Motor Polska Sp. z o.o. engine plant is located in Polkowice, in South-West Poland, about 100 km from the German border. The total area of the plant is about 196,000 square meters, of which an area of about 85,000 square meters is covered by production buildings.
Since the start of production at Polkowice in 1999, over 11 million diesel engines have been produced at the plant. Following pump-injector and common rail engines, production of the modular diesel system (MDB)engines started in 2013. In 2018, the plant produced a total of 678.848 engines for installation in models of the Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Audi, ŠKODA and SEAT brands. In 2019, the Volkswagen Motor Polska is already to start production of latest engine generation MDB Evo.
Volkswagen Motor Polska also manufactures engine components which are supplied to Volkswagen plants throughout the world, where they are assembled. These include cylinder heads, crankshafts, crankcases and connecting rods as well as the integrated valve gear module (iVM). The plant at Polkowice is one of the Volkswagen Group's most advanced engine plants.
