Three legends, plenty of action – and a look into the future: the Polo is celebrating its 50th anniversary in sporty aplomb with an impressive drifting video. In it, the Polo R WRC and Polo R Supercar in a Harlekin livery selected by fans, as well as the electric Polo RX1e, show off their drifting abilities. None other than Johan Kristoffersson himself goes full throttle at unusual locations around the Polo plant in South Africa. But even the World Rallycross Champion is outshone at the end by a surprise guest. -
The new Polo Edition 50: the special model for the 50th anniversary of the Polo
Five decades of the Polo – a real reason to celebrate! With the Polo Edition 50, a special model that Volkswagen is launching to mark the anniversary. The vehicle has an extensive standard equipment package and additionally impresses with specific small design details. Pre-sales of the Polo Edition 50 start tomorrow, Thursday, with prices starting at 28,200 euros in Germany. -

When the small car came on the market in early May 1975, nobody expected that the extremely compact two-door vehicle would become a bestseller – nationally and internationally, over five decades, in six generations, with several prestigious awards, with more than 20 million units sold and as a pioneer in the compact car segment.
