Powerful, sporty, expressive.
The ID.5 GTX is the dynamic flagship of the model series. This combination is capable of delivering a maximum power of up 220 kW (299 PS) . The model’s premium and athletic character is underlined by its generous standard equipment – including numerous assist systems and high-quality design accents. Volkswagen makes the interior of the ID. models even more sustainable
Volkswagen is making the all-electric ID. family even more sustainable – including the choice of materials for the interior. During the course of this year, the ID.3, ID.4, ID.5 and ID.7 will receive selected innovations that were first used in mass production in the ID. Buzz. As one example of this, VW uses Seaqual® yarn as a seat cover material. This is made from 10 per cent collected marine debris and 90 per cent recycled PES yarn. The CO2 emissions from production are almost one third lower than for conventional cover materials. -
New GTX models get more comprehensive standard equipment and a refined look
Volkswagen’s GTX brand stands for the sporty top-of-the-line models of the ID. family. The ID.4 GTX and ID.5 GTX models with dual-motor all-wheel drive – presented just last year – will now be equipped with even more comprehensive standard equipment to emphasise this claim. In addition, they provide a glimpse of the look of other GTX models with new design accents in black and red. In future, every ID. series will have its own GTX model. The ID.4 GTX from 53,255 euros and ID.5 GTX from 56,455 euros are already available for order. -
ID.5 in series production: Volkswagen successfully transforms Zwickau site into an electric vehicle production plant
Volkswagen is driving forward the shift to electric vehicle manufacturing with its ACCELERATE strategy. Today’s official start of production of the ID.5 and ID.5 GTX marks the completion of Volkswagen’s successful transformation of its Zwickau plant into a dedicated electric vehicle production facility. The long-established site in western Saxony is the first large-scale facility of any volume manufacturer worldwide to switch over all production from internal combustion engine vehicles to electric vehicles. Six models from the Volkswagen, Audi and CUPRA brands will now be manufactured in Zwickau based on the modular electric drive matrix (MEB). The plants in Emden (ID.4), Hanover (ID. Buzz) and Chattanooga (USA, ID.4) will be added to the electric vehicle production network this year. The Volkswagen brand has thus laid the foundations for building 1.2 million all-electric-vehicles at its sites in Europe, the USA and China in 2022 based on the MEB.
