Volkswagen is starting pre-sales in Germany of a new full hybrid drive for the Golf and T-Roc models. Electrification made easy: Volkswagen presents new full hybrid for Golf and T-Roc
Volkswagen has developed a new full hybrid drive that combines temporary electric driving with high efficiency and a long range. The new drive system is scheduled to be used in the Golf Hybrid and T-Roc Hybrid from the fourth quarter of the year. The new hybrid models are not dependent on charging cables and charging infrastructure: the energy for the electric drive phases is recovered on board these Volkswagen models by means of recuperation and using a turbocharged petrol engine in combination with a generator. The new full hybrid system will in future be offered in two output levels and offers reduced fuel consumption compared with a mild hybrid drive. Volkswagen will present the details of the new drive system in the Austrian capital Vienna as part of the International Vienna Motor Symposium (22 to 24 April 2026). -

New T-Roc receives top rating of five stars in Euro NCAP tests

The new T-Roc - International Media Drive
Best-selling SUV in Europe. The T-Roc is a European success story. Designed in Germany and built in Portugal, the Volkswagen – which was first presented in 2017, has been built more than two million times since then and was then enhanced in 2021 – regularly occupies the top spots in SUV registration statistics. In 2025 – the year of its replacement – the first generation of this Volkswagen is the undisputed best-selling SUV in Europe. The second generation, which has been improved in all areas, is now being launched. Volkswagen CEO Thomas Schäfer on the new T-Roc: “Our customers love the T-Roc – and I am convinced that the new generation has everything it takes to continue this great success story: progressive design, innovative technologies, top quality and value, intuitive operation and pleasantly balanced handling.” It’s a fact that the T-Roc with its clear and charismatic design is taking a major leap forward in development thanks to brand-new hybrid drive systems, a newly developed and strikingly high-quality interior, new infotainment, cockpit and operating systems from the larger Tiguan and Tayron, more space in the interior and luggage compartment, and assist systems such as Travel Assist that are in some cases unique in its class. Pre-sales have already started in Europe. The official market launch of the new T-Roc and its debut at Volkswagen dealerships will follow immediately. -

The new T-Roc - World premiere
T-Roc improved in all areas. Volkswagen is presenting the world premiere of the brand-new generation of one of its most successful models: the new T-Roc. Last year alone, around 292,000 new car buyers opted for this all-rounder, making it the world’s most successful Volkswagen SUV after the Tiguan. The first generation of the best-seller was launched in 2017 before undergoing enhancements for model year 2022. For the successor now set to be premiered, Volkswagen has made improvements in every area. With new hybrid drive systems across the range, a brand-new and incredibly high-quality interior including next-generation Infotainment, cockpit and operating systems, more space in the interior and luggage compartment, and cutting-edge assistance systems, the T-Roc is a major step forwards in terms of development. And the new, clean and charismatic design complements this evolution perfectly. While the silhouette and roof area unmistakably reflect T-Roc DNA, the design team has reinterpreted the front and rear sections right down to the very last angle. The compact SUV – also known as a Crossover Utility Vehicle (CUV) due to its coupé-like rear end and passenger-car-style handling – radiates a charismatic independence with its expressive front end, while simultaneously showcasing the design versatility of Volkswagen’s new brand face. Pre-sales of the new T-Roc will start at the end of August in the first European countries; the market launch is scheduled for November.
