Superior towing vehicles – Tiguan, Tayron and Passat with all-wheel drive and new powerful turbocharged petrol engines
Volkswagen is expanding the drive range of the best-selling Tiguan and Passat as well as the new Tayron with the most powerful turbocharged petrol engines (TSI). These are coupled to the intelligently controlled 4MOTION all-wheel drive as standard. The combination of TSI and 4MOTION enables towing capacities of up to 2,200 kg (Passat and Tiguan) and 2,500 kg (Tayron with appropriate equipment). The Tiguan and Tayron SUVs can be configured as 2.0 TSI 4MOTION with 150 kW (204 PS) or 195 kW (265 PS). The Passat 2.0 TSI 4MOTION always comes in the more powerful 195 kW version. Sales of the new Volkswagen all-wheel drive models have begun in some markets in Europe. The turbocharged petrol engines complement the most powerful TDI engine with 142 kW (193 PS). -
Significant CO₂ savings possible: latest-generation diesel engines approved for fuels made from residual and recycled materials
Volkswagen plans to reduce the carbon footprint of its fleet in Europe by 40 percent by the year 2030. The company is therefore increasingly focusing on fully and partially electric vehicles. As a further alternative, Volkswagen is now officially approving models with the latest-generation 4-cylinder diesel engines for use with paraffinic fuels. These newly developed diesel fuels containing bio-components permit significant CO₂ savings of 70-95 percent compared with conventional diesel. Alongside its accelerated ramp-up efforts in the area of electric mobility, Volkswagen is systematically further developing the existing range with combustion engines. In this way, the company is responding to different customer needs while at the same time taking into account the internationally varying drive system preferences and the respective general conditions. -
Clean and cultivated: the 2.0 TDI engine with new Euro 6d emission standard
Clean and smooth-running – the 2.0 TDI, Volkswagen’s most important diesel engine is now in new top form. Thanks to sophisticated twin dosing technology in the exhaust gas system, it undercuts the Euro 6d emission standard limits while also running quietly and smoothly.
