At a glance: ID. Polo

A familiar name enters a new era: the ID.Polo will launch this year as the first fully electric model in the compact segment. A camouflaged version of the production model was showcased at IAA MOBILITY 2025, with the world premiere scheduled for late April 2026 and the market launch in the autumn.

The compact car is built on the upgraded MEB+ platform, follows Volkswagen’s new “Pure Positive” design language, and will be available with two battery sizes and three power levels. Depending on the battery, it offers a range of up to around 450kilometers (WLTP), and thanks to its electric drive, the ID. Polo comes with a generous 435liters of trunk space.

With a starting price below €25,000 and state-of-the-art driver assistance systems such as the latest-generation Travel Assist, Park Assist Plus (Memory), and 360° Area View, it takes everyday electric mobility to a whole new level.

Even before its market debut, the ID. Polo was named “One to Watch” at the News UK Motor Awards 2025 – an accolade highlighting the strong public interest and the potential of this new fully electric small car.

The market launch is planned for autumn 2026.

2. How does the ID.Polo differ from the Polo?
The Polo has stood for decades for compact dimensions, everyday practicality, and proven technology. The ID. Polo builds on this but additionally offers the benefits of a fully electric drivetrain: more interior space, a modern digital cockpit, and a quiet, comfortable driving experience.

3. What is the range of the ID.Polo?
The expected range is up to 450 km (WLTP), depending on battery size and equipment.

4. How fast does the ID. Polo charge?
The ID. Polo supports DC fast charging and can be charged from 10% to 80% in under 23 minutes.

5. What battery sizes are available?
The ID. Polo is available with two battery options: a 37 kWh LFP battery and a 52 kWh NMC battery.

6. How much interior space does the ID. Polo offer?
The ID. Polo offers a trunk capacity of 435 liters with the rear seats up, and up to 1,243 liters with the rear seats folded down. It also provides seating for up to five passengers.

7. What driver assistance systems are available?
The ID. Polo will be optionally available with modern driver assistance systems such as Travel Assist, Park Assist Plus (with memory function), and 360° Area View, making electric mobility even more comfortable and suitable for everyday use.

8. Will there be a GTI version?
Yes, a sporty ID. Polo GTI with 166 kW (226 hp) will follow in the course of next year.

9. How much will the ID. Polo cost?
An entry-level price of under €25,000 (including VAT) is planned.
