Volkswagen has been an official partner of the German Football Association (DFB) since early 2019. The focus of its commitment is on the diversity of football. Volkswagen therefore addresses not only the national team and the women’s and junior national teams, but also the 21 regional associations and the 25,000 clubs. For many years, the brand has supported amateurs and professionals, men and women, adults and children in the practice of their favorite sport. Among other things, it hosts the Volkswagen Junior Masters, Germany’s largest football tournament for C-Juniors, and supports cultural projects such as the 11mm International Football Film Festival. Volkswagen has also supported deaf football at regional level, the training of junior trainers in Lower Saxony and the German Academy for Football Culture. As part of the partnership, Volkswagen also supports fans travelling to the stadium, car-pooling teams for away games and parents driving their children to the football pitch weekend-after-weekend.
A festival of European culture
But UEFA EURO 2020TM is not just a sports event. When the ball rolls across the entire continent at twelve different locations next summer, fans will be celebrating a festival of European culture in all its glory. At EURO 2020, Volkswagen wants to help build bridges between football fans in Budapest, Bucharest, Rome, Munich, London, Bilbao, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Dublin, Glasgow, St. Petersburg and Baku.
In cooperation with the Berlin mobility startup “door2door”, Volkswagen has developed an integrated mobility service that football fans can register for in advance of EURO 2020 via the mobility section of the official UEFA EURO 2020 app. The app’s algorithms automatically calculate the location and fastest route for all people travelling in the same direction.
The brand also handles the entire process – from technical support to the provision of drivers. And best of all: Volkswagen will be making this service available at the respective locations for EURO 2020 free of charge and for the entire duration of the competition and up to one day after the last match.
Volkswagen Mobility Makers
At so-called Volkswagen Mobility Info Desks and other centrally located traffic hotspots, Volkswagen as a mobility partner also ensures that football fans and guests are always up-to-date and can find their way around in foreign cities. Volunteers – the so-called Volkswagen Mobility Makers – answer all questions and help with problems before, during and after the matches, throughout the entire tournament. They advise fans on transport routes or give them tips regarding the city’s sightseeing highlights.

The so-called Volkswagen Mobility Makers will help football fans and guests at EURO 2020 find their way around the respective venues. As volunteers, they provide information about the city and the inner-city mobility offers in their open and welcoming style to football fans and visitors alike. They also explain to the guests the function of the official UEFA EURO 2020 app and, in particular, the mobility offers integrated into it by Volkswagen.
In addition, football fans and guests from all over the world will receive a EURO fan t-shirt at the stands in the fan zones. A QR code printed on the fan shirt can be used to activate further mobility offers. And: after the final whistle, Volkswagen also ensures a safe journey home with its mobility offers.
