World premiere of the all-new electric ID.3 GTI: most powerful model in five decades of GTI history
Its interior has not only been redesigned, ergonomically rethought, and technically revamped, but also elevated to a new quality level – hallmarks that now also define the ID.3 GTI. The new and larger Digital Cockpit and the large touch display (diagonal: 32.77 cm/12.9 inches) of the new Innovision infotainment system generation are located on one visual axis. Also new: the button strip for the air conditioning functions (plus hazard warning light switch) located under the infotainment display and the centre console next to it with a practical rotary knob for volume control and skip function for songs and stations.

The successor to the ID.3 is in the starting blocks with a new name and will celebrate its world premiere as the ID.3 Neo in mid-April. Thanks to the latest software generation, the electric compact model comes with a host of new functions. These include, for example, the enhanced Travel Assist with traffic light detection and One Pedal Driving, where the vehicle recuperates until it comes to a standstill. The ID.4, ID.5 and ID.7 are already available to order as the first models equipped with this software, the above-mentioned functions and the new Innovision infotainment system.
World premiere of the ID.3 Neo: new name, new design, new interior and new technologies
Everything is new in the ID.3 Neo! The successor to the ID.3 is celebrating its world premiere with a new name and has been extensively enhanced and upgraded. The exterior features include a new vehicle front design based on Volkswagen’s “Pure Positive” design language and a new light design. The interior impresses with a redesigned cockpit landscape with intuitive controls, embedded in interior materials at the level of the next-higher class. The new efficient drive system of the ID.3 Neo – combined with the largest of the three available batteries – additionally enables ranges of up to 630 km (WLTP). Pre-sales of the electric compact model will start in Germany and many European markets tomorrow, Thursday, 16 April 2026.

The ADAC testers have given the ID.3 an excellent report after four years of endurance testing. The engineers at the Test and Technology Centre in Landsberg am Lech (Germany) covered more than 160,000 kilometres. The key takeaway: the high-voltage battery still has a net capacity of 91 per cent. An ID.3 Pro S with a net battery energy content of 77 kWh was tested. As for all other ID. models, Volkswagen guarantees that the battery of the ID.3 still has at least 70 per cent of its original net capacity after eight years of operation or 160,000 kilometres of driving.

ID.3, ID.4 and ID.7: the pillars of all-electric success Three models are of primary significance to this milestone: ID.3 (approx. 628,000 vehicles delivered): The ID.3 was the first model based on the modular electric drive matrix (MEB) and marked Volkswagen’s entry into the new era of electromobility. It was the first model in the ID. family in 2020 and made all-electric mobility accessible to a broad range of customers in the compact class for the first time. A further product upgrade of the ID.3 will soon be launched. ID.4 (approx. 901,000 vehicles delivered*): The ID.4 is a key growth driver for the brand and has played a major part in expanding Volkswagen’s presence on the global BEV markets. Apart from Germany and other European countries, the most important sales markets for the SUV model include China and the United States.

In 2026, we will see the world premiere of the ID. Polo, ID. Polo GTI, ID. Cross and the ID.3 GTI - and thus complement the recently introduced ID.3 Neo. Especially the ID. Polo will break new ground as regards affordable e-mobility in the compact segment. All the models are based on the latest stage of development of the Modular Electric Drive Toolkit, the MEB+, a technology previously reserved for larger vehicle classes, which will now be available for the first time in the small car class.
