Beetlemania continues
Factory code: 5C Retro remains in vogue: in 2011, The Beetle follows the New Beetle on the PQ35 platform. Compared to its predecessor, the new model has lost its domed roof, but its basic dimensions are noticeably larger: 4.28 metres long and 1.81 metres wide, giving it a sporty, grown-up appearance. And yet the Beetle is visually even closer to its legendary predecessor, the Beetle. There is more space, especially in the rear, and the luggage compartment has grown from 206 to a respectable 310 litres. The new model rolls off the production line at the same location as its predecessor and its ancestor, the legendary Mexico Beetle, in Puebla, Mexico. It is launched on the German market on 5 November 2011. The engine range is broad from the outset, extending from the sensible 1.2-litre TSI petrol engine with 77 kW (105 PS) to the top-of-the-range 2.0-litre TSI with 147 kW (200 PS).
