The first fully electric SUV from Volkswagen. Volkswagen’s electric offensive continues to pick up pace: following the ID.3, the ID.4 is the second model to be built based on the modular electric drive matrix (MEB) and is the brand’s first ever fully electric SUV. It transports this cleaner form of mobility out into the mountains and forests and demonstrates one of the company’s biggest strengths: the development of modern electric vehicles that bring together price, performance and sustainability for customers.
A milestone in the electric offensive. The ID.4 will be launched into the world’s largest market segment, the compact SUV class. It will be produced and sold in China, the US and Europe and marks a strategic milestone in the Group’s electric offensive. Volkswagen plans to launch up to 75 fully electric models by 2029 and to sell around 26 million electric vehicles in this period. An entire ecosystem of sustainable electric mobility will be established around these cars. ID.4 customers will receive a vehicle that has been produced with a carbon-neutral balance. And if it is charged using sustainably produced electricity – like Volkswagen Naturstrom – it will remain carbon-neutral on the road too.

Bandai Namco, AirConsole and Volkswagen bring PAC-MAN into the vehicle
Volkswagen is expanding its gaming offering in selected models. The PAC-MAN Championship Edition is now available in the optional AirConsole In-Car App for playing on the infotainment display in a parked vehicle. A smartphone serves as the controller. Volkswagen is the first automotive manufacturer to dynamically combine the new game with the vehicle’s background lighting and, for compatible ID. models, also with ID. Light as an option. This means that an even more immersive gaming experience is created specifically by the interior lighting responding to the game content and inputs by the players. -
Green power for all ID. models on European roads: Volkswagen supports 26 solar and wind farms
As a pioneer, Volkswagen supported the large-scale expansion of renewable energies in Europe at an early stage. Currently, the automaker is engaged in a total of 26 green power projects in nine European countries. The company has now drawn a positive interim balance. Since 2021, the green power projects supported have fed a total of about three terawatt-hours (TWh) of electricity to the European power grid. This figure corresponds to the annual energy demand of about 800,000 households. Through these efforts, Volkswagen is making a key contribution to decarbonization. An ID.4 powered solely using the EU green electricity grid mix already has a lower CO₂ footprint than a comparable diesel model after about 66,000 km. This is the result of a life cycle analysis*. -

The new ID.4 and ID.5
Volkswagen is now announcing the details of extensive upgrades to the hardware and software of the ID.4 and ID.5. Customers who order one of these models from now on will receive their vehicles with a new software and infotainment system generation and an improved operating concept. In addition, the touch sliders for the air conditioning and volume control will be illuminated in future. The augmented reality head-up display has been enhanced and there is a newly designed 480-watt premium sound system from Harman Kardon. On board the ID.4 Pro, Pro 4MOTION and GTX versions and the ID.5 models, the more economical and at the same time more powerful high-efficiency drive from the ID.7 provides more driving dynamics and driving pleasure. In combination with the Pro models, the new drive develops 210 kW (286 PS); the GTX versions deliver 250 kW (340 PS).
