A special GTI weekend is coming up soon: at the ADAC 24-hour race at the Nürburgring on Friday 20 June, Volkswagen will present the world premiere of the most powerful production Golf GTI ever built to date. Performance, appearance, equipment? Still secret. But it can already be revealed that the vehicle is a top-class anniversary model to mark the 50th birthday of the GTI next year, which Volkswagen is celebrating with this special car. This is just the start of what will be a weekend of racing tailor-made for Volkswagen fans: only one day later, two enhanced Golf GTI Clubsport 24h cars will take on the great challenge and compete in the 24-hour race on the circuit nicknamed ‘Green Hell’ in front of an expected 200,000 spectators. -
Volkswagen is a partner of the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025
Volkswagen is back on the UEFA football pitch. The car manufacturer will be a partner of the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025. The UEFA Women’s European Championship will be held in Switzerland from 2 to 27 July. Volkswagen was already involved as a partner for the UEFA at the 2022 Women´s EURO in England 2022. -

The new Volkswagen Tayron achieved first-class results in the latest Euro NCAP test and received the highest rating of five stars. The result underlines the outstanding safety equipment of the new model and, at the same time, the high standards of Volkswagen. Stefan Mecha becomes new Chairman of the Board of Management of the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brand
Stefan Mecha will become the new Chairman of the Brand Board of Management of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (VWN) in Hanover with effect from July 1, 2025. Mecha succeeds Prof. Dr. Carsten Intra, who is leaving the company for personal reasons as part of a retirement plan. -
Brand Group Core records higher unit sales and sales revenue – special factors impact profitability
The sales revenue of the Volkswagen, Škoda, SEAT/Cupra and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brands rose significantly in the first quarter of 2025, totaling some 35.3 billion euros. There was strong growth in deliveries of all-electric models. At the same time, provisions in connection with CO₂ regulations in Europe as well as the diesel issue impacted the operating result, which decreased to 1.12 billion euros in the first quarter. Inventory write-downs in connection with the import duties announced by the United States also had an adverse effect on the result. -
50 years of the Volkswagen Polo: small on the outside, big on the inside and successful worldwide
“Small on the outside. Big on the inside.” This was the slogan used by Volkswagen 50 years ago to advertise its latest product at the time, the Polo. When the small car came on the market in early May 1975, nobody expected that the extremely compact two-door vehicle would become a bestseller – nationally and internationally, over five decades, in six generations, with several prestigious awards, with more than 20 million units sold and as a pioneer in the compact car segment. -

The one millionth electric vehicle rolls off the production line at the Volkswagen plant in Zwickau
After around five and a half years of all-electric vehicle production, the Zwickau vehicle plant has cracked a magic barrier: This week, the one millionth electric car rolled off the production line at the multi-brand site. The anniversary vehicle is an ID.3 GTX Performance in Kings Red Metallic. The car will be delivered to a customer from Bavaria in a few weeks at the Transparent Factory in Dresden. -
ID. AURA, ID. ERA and ID. EVO: Volkswagen unveils three concept vehicles in Shanghai
Volkswagen is now telling the rest of the ID. CODE story. The concept car presented in Beijing in 2024 charted the course in terms of design, innovations and customer benefit. Building on this, the brand is now unveiling three new concept cars at Auto Shanghai together with its Chinese joint venture partners. The ID. AURA (from FAW-Volkswagen), the ID. ERA (from SAIC VOLKSWAGEN) and the ID. EVO (from Volkswagen Anhui) are representative of a new generation of smart electric vehicles and give a preview of the product strategy for the coming years. Volkswagen plans to bring out over 30 new models (including 20 NEVs) in the relevant segments of the Chinese market through the end of 2027. These will include production versions of the concept cars now being presented in Shanghai, whose design and technologies have been specifically tailored to the needs of Chinese customers.
