China strategy is taking shape: Volkswagen presents three concept cars at Auto Shanghai
The “In China, for China” strategy of the Volkswagen brand is taking on visible form: At this year’s Auto Shanghai (April 23 to May 2), one of the world’s most important motor shows, VW’s three Chinese joint ventures will present electric concept cars. The spotlight is on an electric notchback model from FAW-Volkswagen, an electric SUV in the B segment with extended range due to range-extender technology (EREV) from SAIC VOLKSWAGEN as well as an all-electric SUV from Volkswagen Anhui. All three concept cars embody Volkswagen’s new China DNA – both in terms of technology and design and in relation to development time, which has been cut by more than 30 percent. -
Volkswagen is putting its future plan into action with a new pick-up truck for South America
The Volkswagen brand is putting its global future plan into action. With an investment of 580 million USD in Argentina, the brand is paving the way for the next generation of mid-size pick-up truck as a successor to the Amarok. The new model will be produced at the Pacheco plant in Argentina from 2027. It is being developed specifically for the South American market and will strengthen the strategically important pick-up segment in this region. The brand’s goal is to be the global technology leader among volume manufacturers by 2030. A key component of this will be expanding the brand’s position in regional markets and developing market-specific product solutions. -
Market launch of the new Tayron: more space for everyone and everything
Volkswagen showrooms have a new addition: just months after its world premiere, the Tayron is hitting dealerships across Europe. The first customers are also starting to receive their pre-orders of the brand’s latest SUV. -

Volkswagen celebrates a GTI world premiere with the fans at the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring
The ADAC 24-hour race at the Nürburgring, the largest motorsport event in Germany (19-22 June 2025), is once again all about the fans. More than 230,000 car and motorsport enthusiasts are expected at the legendary Nordschleife. Volkswagen is once again offering numerous highlights this year: among other things, the world premiere of a GTI special model is on the agenda. Other highlights include the performance models from Volkswagen R – which will be presented off the track at the race weekend – as well as, of course, the legendary 24-hour race itself. After the class victory last year, the Max Kruse Racing customer team will compete in the race with two fast Golf GTI “Clubsport 24h” cars. -
Brand Group Core reports solid results for 2024 in a challenging environment
The Volkswagen, Škoda, SEAT/Cupra and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brands worked closely together in the last financial year. Jointly optimized processes strengthened the resilience of the Brand Group Core. Despite necessary restructuring – at the Volkswagen brand in particular – the brand group reported a solid operating result of some 7 billion euros in a challenging market environment. The successful implementation of model ramp-ups together with moderate increases in vehicle sales and sales revenue underscore the increased resilience of the brand group in the face of external challenges. -
Brand Experience 2025: Volkswagen brings the spirit of optimism to dealers worldwide
Around 11,000 Volkswagen dealers from all over the world are taking part in the “Brand Experience 2025” in Düsseldorf until the end of March. At the event, they will gain exclusive insights into the measures Volkswagen is taking to regain its strength. In addition to the emotionalization of the brand and the vision of a holistic customer experience, the future model range is the focus of the event. Volkswagen will be presenting more than ten new models for the next three years – from highly efficient vehicles with internal combustion engines to state-of-the-art hybrid and all-electric models. -

Mobility for everyone: with the ID. EVERY1, Volkswagen is providing a preview of an entry-level electric model
Since the Beetle, Volkswagen has been enabling affordable mobility for millions of people with compact and likeable cars. With the ID. EVERY1 concept car, the German car manufacturer is now showing an entry-level all-electric model. Volkswagen will launch the production version in 2027 – with a starting price of around 20,000 euros. The ID. 2all will already be launched in the 25,000-euro class in 2026. Both models are part of the new Electric Urban Car Family with front-wheel drive, which is being developed on a cross-brand basis under the umbrella of the Brand Group Core – comprising the volume brands in the Volkswagen Group. They are based on Volkswagen’s new modular electric drive platform: the MEB with front-wheel drive. -
Christine Wolburg appointed as Chief Brand Officer of the Volkswagen brand
Christine Wolburg is taking on the newly created position of Chief Brand Officer of the Volkswagen brand with effect from April 1, 2025. Wolburg not only has longstanding experience in the automotive industry but also solid expertise in developing and implementing forward-looking brand experiences. In her new role, Wolburg will be responsible for the global brand experience strategy and will take the holistic experience of the Volkswagen brand to the next level. As CBO, Wolburg will report directly to CEO Thomas Schäfer. In addition, she will take over the marketing management of the Volkswagen brand from Susanne Franz, who will take on a different role within the group. -
Superior towing vehicles – Tiguan, Tayron and Passat with all-wheel drive and new powerful turbocharged petrol engines
Volkswagen is expanding the drive range of the best-selling Tiguan and Passat as well as the new Tayron with the most powerful turbocharged petrol engines (TSI). These are coupled to the intelligently controlled 4MOTION all-wheel drive as standard. The combination of TSI and 4MOTION enables towing capacities of up to 2,200 kg (Passat and Tiguan) and 2,500 kg (Tayron with appropriate equipment). The Tiguan and Tayron SUVs can be configured as 2.0 TSI 4MOTION with 150 kW (204 PS) or 195 kW (265 PS). The Passat 2.0 TSI 4MOTION always comes in the more powerful 195 kW version. Sales of the new Volkswagen all-wheel drive models have begun in some markets in Europe. The turbocharged petrol engines complement the most powerful TDI engine with 142 kW (193 PS). -

Volkswagen Future Plan: Passenger Cars brand gives first glimpse of entry-level electric model at works meeting
At today’s works meeting in Wolfsburg, Thomas Schäfer, CEO of the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand, presented plans for the future of the core brand. Employees also had a first glimpse of the design of the Volkswagen brand’s future entry-level electric model at a price of about €20,000. “With the conclusion of negotiations in December, we set the largest future plan in Volkswagen’s history in motion. We are pursuing an ambitious path to ensure we achieve our shared goals with full commitment. A key step in this is making e-mobility attractive for everyone – that is our brand promise,” said Schäfer. At the same time, the Volkswagen brand CEO emphasized that Wolfsburg would remain the center for innovation and production competence. He said that the main plant would set new standards in automobile production.
