Factory code: Type 113 1.6 Saloon + Type 121 1.6 Saloon
The VW Beetle is built at the Volkswagen plant in Puebla, Mexico, from 1967 onwards. From 1970, in addition to the export models, the "Mexico Beetle" is also manufactured here exclusively for the domestic market, powered by a 1.6-litre boxer engine with 34 kW (46 PS). Hundreds of thousands of them were used as taxis, mostly with the front passenger seat removed for easier access. The seats and controls from the Golf are used in the interior. Private companies also import the Mexico Beetle to Germany.
When the last Volkswagen Beetle rolls off the production line in Puebla on 30 July 2003, an era comes to an end with a total of 21,529,464 vehicles.
