Direct diesel injection (TDI) On an engine with direct diesel injection, the fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber at a pressure which sometimes exceeds 2,000 bar. TDI engines are extremely efficient and therefore offer maximum fuel economy. Under the name of EA288 evo, Volkswagen has just developed a new generation of four-cylinder diesel engines (TDI). The powertrain consisted of a two-cylinder TDI engine (35 kW / 48 PS) and an electric motor (20 kW / 27 PS), a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox (DSG) and a lithium-ion battery. The Bora Estate was an especially exclusive version of the Golf Estate which was sold from April 1999 to December 2004.
