Management change in the finance department of the Core brand group
With effect from October 1, 2024, there will be a change of baton on the Board of Management of the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand and on the Board of Management of SEAT S.A. Patrik A. Mayer will take over from David Powels as Chief Financial and IT Officer of SEAT. S.A., while David Powels will take over the responsibilities of Patrik A. Mayer. -

Hot and cold one-off: Premiere for the ID.3 GTX FIRE+ICE at the ID. Meeting
Volkswagen presents the ID.3 GTX FIRE+ICE at the ID. Meeting in Locarno, Switzerland. Developed in collaboration with BOGNER, the Munich-based luxury sports fashion brand, the car is reminiscent of the legendary Golf Fire and Ice, which became a surprise success in the 1990s and has since achieved cult status among fans. With an exclusive 3-layer paint finish with glass bead effect and numerous details in the interior, the vehicle pays tribute to its predecessor and transfers its design idea into the all-electric modern age. -
Imitation leather from industrial hemp: innovative and sustainable material for future car interiors
Volkswagen has entered into a cooperation with the German start-up Revoltech GmbH from Darmstadt. The aim is to research and develop sustainable materials based on industrial hemp. These could be used as a sustainable surface material in Volkswagen models from 2028. The material made from 100% bio-based hemp uses residues of the regional hemp industry. It can be produced on existing industrial plants and recycled or composted at the end of its service life in an automobile. The first presentations of the innovative material have already received a very positive response and feedback from customers. -

The sportiest electric Volkswagen to date: Start of pre-sales for the ID.3 GTX Performance
Volkswagen is upping the ante by launching a new, even sportier version of the ID.3 GTX. In addition to the ID.3 GTX, which delivers 210 kW (285 PS), the new ID.3 GTX Performance with 240 kW (326 PS) is now also available to order. This means that the electric compact sports car is equipped with Volkswagen’s most powerful electric drive motor. Both GTX versions effortlessly convert their power into traction on the rear axle. The body and chassis layout offers significant benefits here: with the new 79 kWh battery (net) located in the sandwich floor and precisely in the centre of the vehicle, this design offers a sporty low centre of gravity and ideal axle load distribution for driving dynamics and vehicle handling that guarantees plenty of fun. -
Golf icons, shows and community: countdown to the GTI fan festival in Wolfsburg with a host of highlights
It is almost time for the car lovers’ social event of the year in Wolfsburg: the GTI fan festival will take place around the Volkswagen Arena from 26 to 28 July. In addition to vehicle presentations, stage shows and club meets, there will also be numerous highlights and surprises for GTI and Volkswagen fans and their families inspired by the motto ‘Icons Coming Home’. A one-day ticket costs EUR 19.76, but a three-day VIP ticket is also available. For Friday afternoon, an additional Sundowner ticket will also be available for EUR 8.50 from 3:00 pm. Admission is free for children and young people under the age of 18. All information about the event and the ticket shop can be found on the event website www.volkswagen.de/gtifanfest. -
Volkswagen is the most innovative volume brand for electric drive systems
Volkswagen has received the AutomotiveINNOVATIONS Award 2024 as the most innovative volume brand in the field of electric drives. The renowned award is presented annually by the Center of Automotive Management (CAM). In the opinion of CAM, Volkswagen scores highly thanks to its wide-ranging innovative performance in various technological aspects of electric mobility. The highlights include range improvements, as well as the optimisation of power consumption and charging capacity. In addition, the Volkswagen brand demonstrates its great innovative strength in the area of the electric ecosystem, which significantly increases charging convenience for customers. The ID.7 – the Volkswagen brand’s first electric vehicle in the upper mid-sized segment – was also rated positively. -

Volkswagen expands ID. family in China: premiere of the ID. UNYX with progressive design and 3D avatar
As part of its ‘In China, for China’ strategy, the Volkswagen brand is focusing its product offering to more closely reflect the needs of its Chinese customers. Today, the car manufacturer presents the first model from a new Volkswagen sub-brand: the ID. UNYX. The E-SUV coupé of the same name is characterised by a particularly progressive design, a smart human-machine interface (HMI) with a personalisable 3D avatar and a range of more than 600 kilometres. The ID. UNYX is aimed at the Chinese market and is the latest development stage of intelligently networked vehicles from Volkswagen. The ID. UNYX is technically and visually tailored to the lifestyle of young customers in China’s metropolises. The ID. UNYX sub-brand’s retail concept will support this with 40 exclusive stores in 20 cities, where interested parties can experience the vehicle through modern technologies such as virtual and augmented reality. -
Five stars for the new Passat: top marks for best-selling model in Euro NCAP safety assessment
The new Passat has been awarded the top rating of five stars in the renowned Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme) consumer protection programme. This makes the vehicle one of the best-rated mid-sized models of 2024 in the independent European testing body’s overall ranking. After 2010 and 2014, the completely newly developed Passat also receives the highest award from Euro NCAP. -

New sporty models now available: Volkswagen starts pre-sales of Golf GTI Clubsport and Golf R models
The sportiest Golf models from Volkswagen can now be ordered in a new look and with a host of additional features. Customers can choose between the front-wheel drive Golf GTI Clubsport and three all-wheel drive versions: the classic Golf R, the spacious Golf R Variant and the exclusive Golf R Black Edition special model. All four models offer the perfect mix of extreme sportiness, comfort and everyday usability. The Golf GTI Clubsport is available from 48,075 euros in Germany and the Golf R from 53,795 euros. The Golf R Variant can be configured and ordered from 55,065 euros. Prices for the exclusive Golf R Black Edition, which is completely in black, start from 58,440 euros.
