75 years ago: US troops liberate Volkswagen plant and city on Mittellandkanal

Judith Berger’s (née Berkovitz), immigration permission to Palestine. At the age of 19, Judith Berkovitz had been deported to become a forced laborer at the Volkswagen plant. From summer 1944 until her liberation in April 1945, she had to assemble anti-tank mines and grenades for the German army. She never came to Wolfsburg again. Judith died in 2011. Her daughter Rivka visited the Place of Remembrance with her family in 2017.
