Respect, tolerance, diversity lived out – these are the objectives of the LGBTIQ* and friends network #WeDriveProud at Volkswagen. The communication platform looks out for the interests of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual and intersexual, as well as queer people, and came into being in March 2019 as a Diversity Management initiative. The network has 450 members, some of whom we will introduce here.
Marcel Kracheel started his apprenticeship as an office management clerk in 2017. And it was tough: In the meantime, the 23-year-old worked through various areas, from risk management to research and development to procurement. Three years later he followed his path at Volkswagen in the secretariat in the IT Transformation and Projects department.

LGBTIQ
LGBTIQ stands for “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer”. The abbreviation originated in the USA and has also become common in Germany. It is a succinct way of describing people who differ from the heterosexual norm when it comes to their sexual orientation, gender identity or body.
