"New Polo – new colorfulness."
"And it was worthwhile", agrees Manuela Joosten with a laugh. She has just joined our little group. Along with her team, she devoted months to working on the concept for colors and materials. "We have never developed so many colors for a Polo as we did for this generation. But then, a brand-new Polo deserves a brand-new colorfulness", says the Head of the Color & Trim Design Team Small Segment. The result: 14 exterior colors, 13 dashpad colors, two interior trim versions and eleven different seat colors.
"The new Polo has new dimensions, so we also have more surfaces for colors. It was a really exciting task." Manuela Joosten and her team looked for trends that are modern, that stand for the Volkswagen brand and its values, and that will bear the test of time and still be current ten years from now. The designers found inspiration in consumer electronics, lifestyle and living. "Ultimately, customers should feel at home in their cars. But the cars still need to be new, fresh and innovative. So among other things, we visit international trade fairs. You could say: just debuted in Milan, and already in the Polo", Manuela Joosten says with a twinkle in her eye – and invites us to take a seat in the Polo Beats.
