Volkswagen at the Geneva Motor Show
#GimsSwiss OR: Electric mobility and the SUV offensive

For car lovers, spring starts early – at the beginning of March with the traditional automotive industry meeting in Geneva, Switzerland to present its latest exciting offerings. This year, Volkswagen is providing a special look into the future: a future offering even more electric mobility and a future that has already begun! By showcasing unexpected products, the brand will demonstrate that electric mobility has already entered into everyday life and is becoming more and more exciting.
Head of brand, Herbert Diess won't just be presenting extraordinary innovations on the shores of Lake Geneva. The Volkswagen brand is also excelling in terms of sales records. In 2017, the brand sold 6.23 million vehicles, becoming the Group brand with the strongest growth. Successful development continued into the new year, a sales increase of 7.1% in January, and Volkswagen growing in nearly all regions. Thus the Company has laid a solid foundation for the rest of the year.
New addition to the I.D. family
The future is driven by electricity, and the course has been set for electric mobility at the brand. The first fully electric car from the I.D. family will be launched in 2020. And the family will get a new addition in Geneva. The I.D. VIZZION concept car will be presented under the motto "Volkswagen Moving Forward".
It is the fourth member of the family to be based on a fully electric drive platform. The luxury saloon features a pioneering vehicle interior and operating concept:
The vehicle drives fully autonomously and is, of course, powered by electricity. The I.D. VIZZION embodies the attractive and exciting future of individual mobility: electric, fully automated, effortless.
Surprising ideas for mobility
At the Geneva Motor Show, Volkswagen will also demonstrate that the brand always has new surprising ideas for the mobility of the future under its sleeve. For vehicle manufacturers, "We make the future real" means that they also develop sustainable solutions for urban micro mobility. Volkswagen innovations will cause a sensation in the exhibit halls on the shores of Lake Geneva. They are intelligent solutions at affordable prices which support the use of electric mobility on a day-to-day basis. For Volkswagen customers, this means greater freedom and an exciting design. As such, electric mobility will make life more pleasant and easier.
Alongside the electric future, SUVs continue to represent the focus of the brand's identity.
These all-rounders, as dynamic as they are comfortable, are key elements of the successful brand strategy. As such, the compact Tiguan now counts itself among the top-ten bestselling cars in the world.
Discussions with Volkswagen experts
Volkswagen will facilitate direct dialogue with visitors on open days. A particular area will be set aside for this purpose, where the future of mobility can be discussed. Volkswagen wants to gain a better understanding of its customers' needs and for them to also contribute to how the future is formed. Several daily chaired panel discussions on the future of mobility are therefore planned for the staged discussion. Firstly, Volkswagen experts will report on their current projects relating to trends and innovations. This will be followed by an exchange of ideas with visitors – during which questions and suggestions are very much welcome! The discussion will be accompanied by live presentations of the projects and innovations.
The Geneva Motor Show is open to the public from 8th to 18th March. Let the spring begin!
And the model offensive is being driven forward with great momentum: the Company plans to launch around 30 new SUV models on markets across the globe by 2022.
