What role does cooperation between the factories play?
Close collaboration is excellent for achieving rapid improvements. An excellent example is our “Best in Copy” initiative, in which we quickly and pragmatically implement good solutions from our plants at other sites around the world. Also, with the “fit for finish” project we have already succeeded in substantially reducing rework, which has enabled us to save hundreds of millions of euros since 2016. Other Group brands are now implementing this initiative as well.
What significance do improvements at the Volkswagen brand have for the Group?
A competent, globally leading production network is one of the biggest levers for value enhancement in the Volkswagen Group. In this connection, the core brand with its 27 vehicle-manufacturing plants worldwide has particular importance and special responsibility. We need to achieve a margin of 8 percent across all brands to make the Group fit for the future. Production at the Volkswagen brand will do its bit. Efficient production is the key to our Company’s future success. We will announce the cornerstones of our new “Transform.Together” production strategy at the end of September.
