With more than 30 million units built, the Passat is a bestseller around the globe and a fixed pillar in Volkswagen’s range of products. In Europe, the spacious version that has made its mark is the Passat Variant (Estate). Thanks to its multi-purpose characteristics, it is very popular both as a company car and as a family car. Even with five people on board, 650 litres worth of luggage space is still available. When the rear bench seat is folded down, this value increases to up to 1,780 litres.
The current model is based on the innovative modular transverse matrix (MQB) and is characterised by technologies such as the IQ.LIGHT – LED matrix headlights and latest-generation Infotainment systems (MIB3). The MIB3 systems are permanently online upon request and bring new services and functions on board. New assistance systems on the path to automated driving – bundled under the umbrella brand IQ.DRIVE – make the Passat Variant more comfortable than ever before. For example, the Passat is the first Volkswagen to drive partially automated at speeds of up to 210 km/h by employing Travel Assist.
The Passat Variant is available in seven engine variants (90 kW / 122 PS to 206 kW / 280 PS) and five equipment lines (Conceptline, Passat, Business, Elegance, GTE). A plug-in hybrid (GTE), which can drive up to 55 kilometres (WLTP) in electric mode (e-mode), is also included. In addition, the Variant is offered as a stand-alone model version in the Passat Alltrack – a crossover of the Estate and SUV – with 4MOTION all-wheel drive, increased ground clearance and an all-terrain look.
