In China, sedans are also especially popular in the compact segments. One of the most successful is the Lavida produced by SAIC Volkswagen (Shanghai). Over the past 10 years, more than 3 million units have been sold. For the past five years, the Lavida has been the best-selling vehicle in the high-volume A segment – the Golf class in China. Volkswagen launched the latest generation in May 2018. The New Lavida is to continue the success of its predecessor. A key to success is the modular transverse toolkit (MQB). Thanks to the MQB, the New Lavida has more dynamic proportions and a new range of technical features including new assistance systems such as the Front Assist ambient monitoring system including automatic emergency braking function. The New Lavida is also the only model in its segment to feature LED headlights as standard equipment.
