The Golf GTD is an icon among compact sports sedans with diesel engines. After all, you could say that it has the DNA of the Golf GTI on board. Since 2015, the Golf Variant, first launched in 1982, has also been available as a GTD. In its latest version, the Golf GTD Variant, which is predestined for long-distance cruising, has a power output of 135 kW / 184 PS and can reach a maximum speed of 231 km/h (DSG: 230 km/h). In the 6-speed manual version, this all-rounder has a fuel consumption of 4.7 l/100 km; with the optional 7-speed DSG gearbox, the figure is 4.8 l/100 km. On one tank of diesel, the car can travel more than 1,000 km.

With the update of the new Golf in model year 2017, three further sporty, fuel-efficient models can now be ordered: the plug-in hybrid Golf GTE and the dynamic Golf GTD and Golf GTD Variant diesel models.
